The Dallas Morning News this morning has an article on Dan Patrick's invasion of the DFW airwaves and his running for a state Senate seat. This is a good thing. There are just not enough Christian nationalist, right-wing butt monkeys in or midst
. We need to lie prone once again and let another intolerant loud mouth slam us in our collective asses. I think that's still the way the Dan Patrick types like it.
Of course, while Dan and his ilk once again screw us, they'll be screaming out that they are the overwhelmed victims of a godless, immoral, secular society hell bent on bringing Satan to the public square. That gets their substantial red-meat-eating base salivating and ready to do their leaders' bidding. You have noticed that these Nurenburg-Ralley types must play the victim to a demonic force out to devour everything sacred, right?
Here's just a taste of Dan's Kingdom Coming bullshit.
Dan believes that God has given him a great platform to share biblical principles to many who may never step inside a church. Dan once said, "People are interested in religion. I try to present God's Word in a non-preaching manner to my audience. If you look at the size of my audience I have the biggest church in Houston when we are talking about the Bible." For the last decade, Dan has stated on his bio that his main goal in life is to expand God's Kingdom on earth.
I hope that kind of talk poses the same kind of problem for you that it does for me. This is the same kind of intolerant rhetoric coming out the mouths of too many Islamic fundamentalists who boast that this world is Allah's world. I mean, come on, it states his Christian nationalist view too clearly: "his main goal in life is to expand God's Kingdom on earth." Holy shit, man. We need viable alternatives, in politics and on the air, to the Dan Patrick types who want to remake the US and the world in their image.
Hey, Dan. No mas, motherfucker!

Is calling someone a mother fucker tolerant? How about butt monkey?
Not saying if I agree with you or not but your academic dishonesty if quite funny. Did you not proof read your article?

No, you're right, it's not tolerant. It's not supposed to be. The tag, motto, or whatever you call it, used to be "who's intolerant today besides me?" But that's kinda long-winded and a bit to obvious.
I'm not running for office; and if I were, I wouldn't be advocating as that my main goal in life is to expand God's Kingdom on earth.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's one thing to let your id rant on a crappy little blog (like I do on mine), and another to advocate the desire to expand God's Kingdom on earth, much less in the US or Texas (like Dan Patrick has).
Well, that's my two rupees worth of explanation. By the way, you're my first comment. I've only been doing this for a few weeks. Thanks for at least checking out the site.

Ha ha ha! You are so tolerant of people, calling them names and using profanity. Talk about a hippocrite!
You can't even be creative. You stole Butt Monkey from Laura Ingraham.
Pssssst! At least Dan won't chop your head off if you don't convert. You are a joke!

For starters the word is spelled "hypocrite." (I apologize for being a nitpicker.)
And as for my lack of creativity, you're right. In fact, I could easily be voted least likely to be creative in a lifetime; no, make that two lifetimes.
As for Dan's "desire to expand God's Kingdom on earth," what you're saying then is that as long as he doesn't do it by chopping your or my head off, it's OK? Well, that threshold is a bit too high for me and a lot of others.
Anyway, thanks for the "creative" comments.

Alex,
Bravo on exercising the rights that were fought and died for by so many, I am sure they would be so proud of you.
Just a little information for you, in case it may have slipped your mind, or you have forgotten since school; this country was founded by so called “Christian Nationalists”, and is the greatest nation on the earth. Having visited many other countries, including many of the ones people say we should emulate, I can personally attest to the fact that we have it better here than anywhere in the world. I believe this is due to God’s blessing upon our nation.
If you don’t believe in God, that is your right. You can express a belief, or disbelief in anything you wish. You express your belief; you are labeled as an enlightened person. If a Christian expresses their belief, they are labeled as a whacko, or worse.
Dan Patrick has tried to center his life on the teachings of Christ. The first tenant is to love God; the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. I am not sure how this can be equated to Islamic extremism, or any type of extremism for that matter.
We in the Christian community love open dialog and welcome the opportunity to discuss issues with those who hold different opinions. But “Butt Monkey”? Come on, use your brain, and try to have intelligent debate. This kind of language really does not benefit your cause, It just makes others see you as a close minded, hate filled person.
We will pray for you.

If you're going to nitpick on spelling, then you should edit your own. It should read
'bit too obvious', not 'bit to obvious'. Nobody forces anybody to be a Christian in this nation. We uphold the right of people to practice any religion they desire, or to practice none at all.
As for the name of this blog, it's clear that you are the intolerant one. Your hatred of Christians is obvious. Likely given the opportunity, you would be every bit as ruthless and barbaric in crushing the life out of anybody you disagree with as those we are fighting now. Fortunately we protect people like you and encourage them to make fools of themselves in a public forum. Your own actions let us know who you are, and we are in no danger from you because a huge majority of Americans have common sense, something you must give up to become a liberal.

I appreciate the comments, Jerry. And I have read broadly and deeply (not just cherry picked to fit preconceived notions) many, many documents, letters, notes and texts regarding the Founding; as well as many, many secondary-source texts (which are the least instructive, by the way). I'm sure you have, too.
And I agree with you that we do have a great country, as I too have travelled and studied abroad extensively. However, you do know that your personal attestation as to having it better here (US) than anywhere else in the world is extremely subjective, to say the least. It's not as simple as you say. I wish it were, though.
Maybe my problem is that I think it's important to see the world in all its subtlety and shades of grey, and not with certainty in black and white.
And I'm serious here, thanks for praying for me.
