When it comes to many of the problems Americans face daily, conservatives think in terms of direct causation, where a person's actions have a direct effect (that dumb ass is a big fat slob because he lacks self-discipline), while progressives think in terms of systemic causation, whereby effects arise out of myriad social, ecological, and economic systems (that poor guy is fat because of an economic system that allows the food industry to lobby against government regulation).
So for a Republican, if someone screws up or finds himself in some kind of difficulty, there is a direct causation. Simply put, the blame is all on the poor fuck- up for not having any self-discipline. But wait a minute...That is unless the person that screwed up is a Republican. Then they think in terms of systemic causation.
Here's a great example. Rush "Pill Popper" Limbaugh was busted for abusing and illegally obtaining OxyContin. We sure as hell didn't hear ol' Pill Popper say, "This is all my fault. I lack self-discipline." Instead he blamed a back condition for his fuck up.
And now with Mark "I like boys" Foley in trouble for, well, for liking boys, who does he blame? His lack of self control? Fuck no. He blames, get this, alcoholism and emotional problems.
“the events that led to my resignation have crystallized recognition of my longstanding significant alcohol and emotional difficulties.”
Isn't that the shit? Those stingy bastards don't want to help the poor. Hell no. They say, "it's their own damn problem. They don't have enough self discipline. What they need to do is pull themselves up by their boot straps and stop having babies."
Or take any other problem -- drugs, teen pregnancy, hunger or AIDS. Those selfish fucks don't want to spend a dime on programs that might provide at least a little relief. They want to give rich fucks tax breaks and go to war without good cause. You know, good Christian shit like that.
Enough is a enough...I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it any more...Speak truth to power...Fight the Man...
Basically, things they gotta change.

"that dumb ass is a big fat slob"
